A Gill returns to Bentley's, this time behind the stove
Alasdair Gill trained in some of London's most demanding kitchens, and his cooking carries that discipline lightly. It is direct, generous food, made without ceremony and all the better for it. For one evening he brings the recipes of Knives and Spoons into our dining room, cooking alongside the Bentley's kitchen.
The evening has a particular resonance here. Alasdair is the son of A.A. Gill, among the finest writers ever to turn his attention to restaurants, and a man with a long affection for this one. He understood what Bentley's is: an oyster bar on Swallow Street since 1916, still doing what it has always done, now under Richard Corrigan and still built on the best of British and Irish produce.
Cooking recipes from the book, Alasdair will show the kitchens behind it, the people in it, and how a life spent cooking ends up on the page.
What to Expect
Taking place in the Oyster Bar, the evening begins with a welcome drink, oysters and canapes. Alasdair will cook four courses from Knives and Spoons, with snippets from the book showcasing the concept behind each dish.
Your ticket includes a welcome drink and canapes and four courses. Books will be available to purchase with a signing from Alasdair and Richard Corrigan.
